Arrange Tia's timeline
In the Australian Curriculum: History for Year 1, students are required to:
- sequence familiar objects and events
- identify and compare features of objects from the past and present
- develop a narrative about the past.
Timelines are useful in developing students' sense of change and continuity as well as chronology.
Show 'Tia's timeline':
- Point to the ages marked along the timeline.
- Ask: 'Which photo will we place first above "Newborn"?'
Arrange Tia's photographs in order to show how she has grown and changed. Students can click or tap the audio icon below the ages to get clues from Tia's audio.
To extend the discussion about growing and changing over time, you may use picture books, such as:
- When Frank was four by Alison Lester
- Tessa snaps snakes by Alison Lester
- You'll soon grow into them Titch by Pat Hutchins.
