Look for clues
Ask students how they could identify whether a means of transport is from the past or the present. What clues would they look for?
Select an image of a current mode of transport from the Gallery. Ask students to identify clues that suggest it is from the present. Write the clues on notes on a PrimaryWall.
This could be done by the teacher or students. Students could add their notes synchronously by working from different computers. Discuss the clues written on the notes. You could repeat this process using an image of a mode of transport from the past. Watch the video at What’s PrimaryWall? to get started.
What’s on the web? and Be wary on the web are interactive resources designed to support Stage 1 students as they learn safety online. They support the implementation of the NSW Digital Citizenship model.
Be aware before you share is a resource to support the teaching and learning of cyber safety for Early Stage 1 students.
You could use the TES PowerPoint presentation (login required) to examine images of transport now and then and identify clues that help us to recognise old and new modes of transport. Construct a list of features that can be used as clues.
Students click on a form of transport in 'Look for clues’ to enlarge it. They look for clues to help them identify whether the transport is from the past or the present. Encourage discussion.
