Community plan
In groups, you now need to develop a proposal for spending a $40,000 government grant to prepare your community for the future and enhance liveability. Your task is to present your proposal to the judging panel and convince them to provide you with the funding. Your presentation must include:
-
a short description of the demographics of your community, including changes over time demonstrated using the graphs created in the previous task
-
an outline of external or non-demographic factors affecting your community, such as drought
-
a comment on any recent changes or developments in your community, including on their appropriateness to the geographic data you have collated
-
a clear outline of your proposals for change in your community, based on the above geographic data.
-
an explanatiopn of how your proposal will enhance the liveability of your community.
Take some time to plan your presentation before you begin.
The form of your presentation should be based on what is appropriate for your proposal. Have a look at the ideas below for some suggestions.
Your presentation can incorporate any of the following aspects:

a presentation created in Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi or another presentation program
-
a converted Powerpoint made into a video, adding a soundtrack and timing of different elements
-
photographs taken around your community using the camera on a device like your phone, iPad or laptop, you might even like to Photoshop your proposed project into an image to show the judging panel what it would look like.
-
maps of your community (eg Google Maps), which you could embed live or annotate using the My Maps function
-
video taken in your community
-
audio recorded using your laptop microphone and edited with Audacity.
-
some kind of VR version of your community including the proposed changes so that judges can do a walkthrough
